As fun and beneficial as it was working for a food magazine when I did I would bring home soooo much stuff.
Stuff the test kitchen was getting rid of, promotional product sent in hope of write-ups and being the gate-keeper everything passed through me who hated seeing anything useful going to waste.
The upshot is that our pantry (and fridge for a time) became full of multiple jars of pickled chillies, a veritable bushel of dukkah and assorted other exotic products.
Well some things keep and some things don't - this NY Times article (via Curious Bird) is a good way to gain perspective on what you really need and don't need in the pantry. And yay for more unprocessed foods.
We'll be using this next time we're in the stupermarket and are tempted to buy something over processed or some kind of dessicated herb etc.
